I regret been Leicester City player, says Leicester key player

Leicester City: Emerging Ndidi and Dewsbury-Hall transfer talk is concerning: View

The Foxes look in a strong place to return to the Premier League, but the loss of two top players would dampen the celebrations

Leicester City are still among the favourites to achieve promotion from the Championship, but rumours surrounding two of their key players will be a cause for concern.

Midfield duo Wilfred Ndidi and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have been vital components of the central unit at the King Power Stadium throughout this campaign.

It therefore comes as little surprise that the pair are attracting interest from top Premier League sides as the summer transfer window rolls around, and offers likely to come in may prove difficult to turn down.

Promotion would be a huge boost to the East Midlands side, but if these two players were to depart they could prove difficult to replace.

The news that the Foxes have recorded significant losses in recent years has alerted many top sides to the fact that Leicester’s most marketable assets may be available at a cut price as bosses at the King Power look to balance the books.

One such figure is academy graduate Dewsbury-Hall, who would represent pure profit in accounting terms, so may be one of the most likely to depart.

The 25-year-old has reportedly attracted attention from both Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur, with the Seagulls having already tabled a bid in the January window.

Interest in his midfield co-star, Ndidi, is perhaps even more intense, potentially due to him becoming a free agent at the end of this season unless fresh terms can be agreed with his current club.

Brighton and Spurs have also got their eyes on the Nigeria international, but are joined in this interest by Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Even if the Foxes do land promotion, these two midfield stalwarts could prove too difficult to hold on to, and the club may be forced to accept advances for Dewsbury-Hall for financial reasons.

Dewsbury-Hall and Ndidi have appeared 40 and 27 times respectively in the middle of the park this season, making contributions that will be difficult to replace, especially if the club moves into a higher division at the end of this season.

Ndidi is renowned more for the defensive stability he offers in central areas, which has been a key factor in the Foxes keeping one of the best defensive records in the league, but he has also been useful at the other end, scoring two goals and assisting a further five.

It is likely the defensive side of his game that has attracted clubs like Spurs though, with the news that they are set to let their current enforcer Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg go this summer.

Dewsbury-Hall has been a key creator during this campaign, notching 12 goals and 13 assists from midfield, in a showing that has gone some way to replacing the creative spark lost in James Maddison last season.

Those numbers speak for themselves and, with a contract running until 2027, those at King Power are in the driving seat to set his price tag. Their bargaining power is decreased slightly with the public knowledge of their financial issues that must be resolved, but they will likely have room to hold out for a decent fee.
