Dodgers Rumors: LA Could Lose Important Coach This Offseason

This would be a big loss for LA.

Over the last decade-plus, the Dodgers have been one of the best teams in the league. It hasn’t resulted in multiple championships, but they have won a ton of games during that time.

The only downside to consistently winning games is that others around the league take notice, and they start to pick off those who made the success possible. This typically means that members of a coaching staff start to leave, and the team then is forced to find replacements.

For the Dodgers, one of the hottest names on the managerial market in recent years has been first-base coach Clayton McCullough. He has interviewed for multiple jobs in years past and could very well find himself leading a team next season.

The MLB staff at The Athletic put together a list of candidates who could fill some of the openings around baseball, and McCullough was mentioned.

“McCullough interviewed with the New York Mets for the job that eventually went to Showalter and finished as the runner-up to Matt Quatraro for the Royals job last offseason. He spent several years as a manager in Toronto’s minor-league system before serving as the minor-league field coordinator with the Dodgers. He has earnedpraise for his work with younger players.”
