Texas Longhorns have suspended backup quarterback Case McCoy and injured linebacker Jordan Hicks for violating team rules ahead of the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, according to a source.

The person spoke to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity Friday because the school refused to release the names of the suspended players. According to the person, the players violated the curfew.

Coach Mack Brown addressed the situation during a previously scheduled news conference on Friday, citing a KENS-TV report (http://tinyurl.com/cw8dcj3) that police were investigating two unidentified Texas players in an alleged sexual assault at a San Antonio hotel.

“It has been reported that a couple of young men broke team rules last night. “They have been suspended from the team and will be sent home,” Brown said during a previously scheduled news conference in San Antonio. “They will not be available for the game, and I will not respond to any further questions in that regard.”

Sgt. Javier Salazar, a San Antonio police spokesman, stated that detectives are in the early stages of investigating an alleged sexual assault in downtown. Investigators are interviewing witnesses and gathering forensic evidence, he stated.

“It’s a very meticulous process,” Salazar explained. “These investigations are still in their early stages.”

According to a heavily redacted police report, a 21-year-old woman claimed she was assaulted around 2 a.m. Friday after inviting two men to her hotel room. The report only states that the men are students, one is 21 and the other is 20. The woman told police that she had several drinks before inviting the men to her hotel.

The woman claimed one of the men assaulted her while the other “just stood there and watched,” according to the report. Police said they noticed bruises on the woman’s right knee and left bicep.

According to the report, after speaking with police, the woman was transported to a San Antonio hospital and examined by a sexual assault nurse examiner. The two suspects were also taken to the hospital and examined by a nurse, according to the report.

Ben Turner, acting general manager of the Holiday Inn on San Antonio’s Riverwalk, said police were called to the hotel between 2 and 3 a.m. Friday to look into an alleged sexual assault. He stated that the hotel staff was cooperating with the police.
