GOOD NEWS: Steelers Announce The Signing Of New Super QB After…

Pittsburgh This offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed veteran Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers defender Dean Lowry to bolster their defensive line.

But one analyst is proposing a different approach in the absence of another reliable defensive depth chart player beyond their starters.

Each NFL team should sign one eligible free agent this summer, according to Lorenzo Reyna of Pro Football Network. This free agent, a 34-year-old former Super Bowl winner of the New England Patriots, will be joining the Steelers for the 13th season. Given the need for defensive line improvement, PFN advises Pittsburgh to get in touch with Lawrence Guy.

“While cornerback is needed, T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith also require interior assistance. Lawrence Guy could be very welcome here, as he has a history of pockets caving inside,” Reyna says.

Guy began his playing career in Indianapolis and then played for the San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, and New England Patriots. During his seven seasons as a player with the Patriots, he has racked up 507 tackles, 39 tackles for loss, and 17 sacks.

In his 17 games played last season, Guy started 12 of them and added 38 tackles, including one for loss, to his stat sheet.

The former Patriot’s arrival would increase the defensive line’s versatility for the Steelers. Guy would be able to play across the defensive line if necessary, and he would have the chance to work behind Larry Ogunjobi as well as alongside Lowry and DeMarvin Leal.

Ogunjobi, Cam Heyward, Keeanu Benton, Lowry, Isaiahh Loudermilk, Montravius Adams, and maybe Leal make up the Steelers defensive line this season. Leal, Loudermilk, and Adams will fight for the last three roster spots as the organization attempts to assemble its ideal 53.

Guy would probably join the team as someone who was anticipated to play and immediately integrate into the inside pass-rushing group.
