Ferry’s £10m divorce

Bryan Ferry is facing a bitter £10million divorce battle with his estranged wife Lucy Helmore, it was revealed last night.

The 57-year-old Roxy Music frontman has been dating 21-year-old backing singer Katie Turner since splitting with Miss Helmore last year.

After 20 years of marriage, Miss Helmore wants their £6million London home and a further £250,000 a year to help pay for their children to continue their education at Eton.

The settlement is likely to be one of the biggest in British legal history, eclipsing the £7million paid by Mick Jagger to his former wife Jerry Hall.

But Ferry, who is worth an estimated £30million, is expected to dispute the size of the claim.

A friend of the star said: ‘He wants to be as fair as possible. But he thinks Lucy’s claim is over the top.

‘Lucy is not only after the house in Chelsea, but £250,000 a year so she can keep the lavish lifestyle she is accustomed to. Bryan figures that by the time he retires this deal will have cost him £10million.’

Ferry, who was once dumped by Miss Hall for Jagger, married society beauty Miss Helmore in 1982.

Last September, just weeks after Miss Helmore revealed their marriage was over, Ferry began dating Miss Turner, whose previous jobs include a part in the stage show 42nd Street and a stint as a cruise ship dancer.

They met when she joined him for a series of Roxy Music reunion concerts last year. His 42-year- old wife admitted at the time: ‘We have drifted apart.’

The couple own homes in Sussex and New York as well as London. They have four sons, three of whom are still at Eton. Their eldest son is 20.
