Coco Gauff profile: racquet, earnings, family, arguments with judges…

Despite being in her 20s, American Coco Gauff is already quite high in the hierarchy of world tennis, attracting attention both on and off the court. The Dailysports team has prepared a profile of the young star for you.

Gauff has a sponsor in mind in the form of Head, the company that manufactures racquets for the world tennis star. She is currently using a Head PT339.2 racquet, but even if you want to buy one, it is unlikely that you will be able to do so, as all copies have been sold out, even at a price of 500 euros.

In just under nine months of 2024, we have managed to count at least four instances of Gauff getting into verbal altercations with judges. The most recent incident took place at the US Open, when the American started talking to the umpires amidst a poor first round match against Germany’s Laura Siegemund. Perhaps this is part of a psychological influence on her opponents, as Gauff usually wins these matches.

Despite her status as a young star, she is already earning quite well. Forbes magazine has twice ranked her in the top three (Highest Paid Female Athlete 2023 and Highest Paid Tennis Player 2024), with her total earnings as of 23 August 2024 estimated at $27.1 million.

In addition to the aforementioned Head company, Gauff has other notable sponsors like shoe company New Balance, Barilla Foods, UPS and Baker Tilly. It remains unknown how much Gauff receives as endorsements from the star brands, but it is known that the contracts are quite lucrative.

Gauff was born into an athletic family. Coco’s father Corey played basketball at the University of Georgia, and mum Candy was a star heptathlete on the Florida State University team. In total, the Gauff family has been married for over 20 years, and in addition to Coco, Corey and Candy have two other sons who also play tennis.

Coco lived with her parents until the age of 20, but in July 2024, she decided to start her own life and move out to a separate house. The house is located in Delray Beach, Florida, just outside of Miami.

Gauff’s coach is former world number four (1990) and 1988 Olympic semi-finalist Brad Gilbert. He started working with the American recently, in August 2023.
