Nottingham Forest star Ibrahim Sangare ruled out for three months – sources
Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangare is expected to be sidelined for up to three months with a torn hamstring, sources have told Football Insider.
The Ivory Coast international underwent surgery on Saturday and will now begin his rehabilitation process at Forest’s training ground.
Forest are expecting him to be ruled out until December in a big blow to Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans for the first half of the season.
The 26-year-old missed the 1-0 victory against Liverpool at Anfield due to his injury, having previously started all three of their Premier League games this season.
This has come following Danilo’s leg break in the opening-day clash with Bournemouth, further weakening their options in midfield.
Sangare had seen a return to form following a frustrating first season at the City Ground, and is regarded by the boss as a key player in his side.
Ibrahim Sangare sidelined until December in new blow for Nottingham Forest
Sangare’s presence in this Nottingham Forest side had provided added strength and defensive ability to their midfield, as he played a key role in their early season form.
His presence was key in the 1-0 victory against Southampton, while he also turned in impressive displays in draws with Bournemouth and Wolves.
However, taking all three points at Anfield will have provided the team with confidence that they can continue their good form even without such a key player.
New arrival James Ward-Prowse was selected to make his full debut in Sanagre’s position and turned in an eye-catching display to keep the Liverpool midfield quiet.
This will have provided further reassurance for Nuno, with Ryan Yates’ availability and consistency also helping to keep the midfield balanced.
Having taken eight points from their opening four Premier League games, Forest remain unbeaten and will look to keep their good run going despite Sangare’s absence.
However, as the winter fixture list builds up ahead of his potential return in December, his boss will be hoping his recovery and rehabilitation stay on track.
In other news, Forest fans have labelled the Premier League “corrupt” after a Man United twist.
