The Texas Tech football team has lost another outside linebacker for the season with a knee injury.
Tech announced in Monday’s availability report that junior Joseph Adedire will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
He joins fellow outside linebacker Dylan Spencer as being sidelined for the year after the sophomore suffered a knee injury of his own in the first week of preseason camp.
Adedire underwent shoulder surgery each of the last two offseasons and was expected to play a key role in this year’s defense. He missed Saturday’s 52-51 overtime win over Abilene Christian.
Elsewhere on the availability report, outside linebacker Charles Esters III (thigh) and defensive back Javeon Wilcox (knee) are listed as out for this week’s matchup at Washington State (9 p.m. CT Saturday, FOX).

The list of questionable players for the Wazzu game is long and features several key players.
Starters Tahj Brooks (arm), outside linebacker Harvey Dyson III (foot) and defensive backs Bralyn Lux (thigh) and C.J. Baskerville (shoulder) are all listed as questionable.
Head coach Joey McGuire said during Monday’s press conference that Brooks’ status for Saturday’s game will be a true game-time decision. The team hopes to have Esters back in the next week or two.
Texas Tech football depth chart for Washington State game
The listed depth chart for the Texas Tech football team heading into Saturday’s game at Washington State is relatively unchanged from the first week of the season except for the tight end position.
Mason Tharp was the listed starter for the Abilene Christian contest with Jalin Conyers and Johncarlos Miller II being considered co-backups.
This week’s chart sees an OR between Tharp, Conyers and Miller, meaning there isn’t a defined starter at the position. All three players saw significant action against the Wildcats with Conyers being the top receiving target at the position.
Conyers caught five passes for 63 yards, including a 36-yard touchdown in the first half of the game. Tharp and Miller were primarily used for run blocking, though both caught one pass, Tharp for nine yards and Miller for seven.
Drae McCray honored by Big 12 Conference
Kick returner Drae McCray was named the Big 12 Conference’s special teams player of the week, the league announced on Monday.
McCray was the spark plug for Tech much of the game. He averaged 55 yards per return, including run backs of 74 and 65 yards against Abilene Christian. The Wildcats kicked away from McCray the rest of the game.
