Nebraska Football Announces Contract Extensions For Entire Staff
Late last month, it was reported that Nebraska football was in the process of finalizing contract extensions for its entire coaching staff. Now, those extensions are in.
Scott Frost’s assistant coaches were set to have their contracts expire at year’s end. Now, it looks like most of the group is intact, and each will be on the books through December 31, 2020.
This news does come as Nebraska is losing one key assistant.
Defensive line coach Mike Dawson is heading to the NFL, taking over the same job on the New York Giants staff, as of Monday.
According to the Omaha World-Herald, Scott Frost is still on his original seven-year contract that he received after coming over to his alma mater following two years at UCF.
In 2017, he led the Knights to an undefeated season, AAC title, and Peach Bowl win over Auburn. That game occurred after he chose to take the Huskers job.
The World-Herald has the contract details for the rest of the Nebraska football staff.
Frost’s contract paid out $5 million in 2018, while the staff pay totaled $4.5 million. Per these numbers, the group is currently at $4.4 million, but that is without a new defensive line coach as of now.
