Wigan Warriors star Jai Field reportedly wants an NRL return.
After an outstanding performance in helping Wigan Warriors win the World Club Challenge, full-back Jai Field has confirmed his desire to return to the NRL.
Field, who has frequently been chastised for his defensive shortcomings, executed a textbook cover tackle on Taylan May, preventing the Penrith flyer from scoring and potentially winning the game for the NRL champions.
The 26-year-old fullback was also involved in Jake Wardle’s controversial try and had a solid overall performance, as did many of Matt Peet’s teammates.
NRL scouts are enamored with Wigan Warriors’ talent pool, just as they were with St Helens last year when they upset to win the World Club Challenge. Field is no exception.
The Australian previously competed in the NRL but found success in the Super League, following a similar path to many young Australians who gain experience in England before returning home.
Speaking after the game on Saturday night, Field confirmed that he intends to return down under, an ominous statement for Wigan Warriors fans to hear.

Field signed with the Cherry and Whites ahead of the 2021 season, and he has since played 61 games for the club after appearing only 17 times in the NRL for St George Illawarra and Parramatta.
Field spoke to The Daily Telegraph about his route to England and the possibility of returning to Australia.
He stated, “I was at a couple of clubs where you don’t really get as many opportunities or get blooded as much as other kids who were on the same path as you.
“That is why we ended up over here. For me, people I played before me, like Blake Green and Jackson Hastings, have moved on and done well.”
On the prospect of returning to the NRL, he said, “It’s definitely something you want to do. Many people say you can’t, but you still can.
Saturday night demonstrated that he has the potential to make an impact in the NRL, as he put in a standout performance, both creating and denying opportunities.
Field recently signed a new contract with the club that will keep him there until 2027, but he has stated that a return home is a possibility, but it may not happen until the 2026 season.
He stated: “I have this year and next year and will see what happens from there. I have a few options in my favor at Wigan after next year, but
