The University of Georgia Bulldogs’ football program has been the subject of significant media attention, with multiple documentaries highlighting their recent successes. Notably, ESPN produced “Them Dawgs,” a documentary focusing on the Bulldogs’ 2022 national championship season. This film offers an in-depth look at the team’s journey, featuring game highlights, player interviews, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from locker rooms and sidelines. “Them Dawgs” premiered on SEC Network on July 17, 2023, and is also available for streaming on ESPN+.
In contrast, Netflix has announced an upcoming college football docuseries set to release in the summer of 2025. This eight-episode series will provide behind-the-scenes coverage of Southeastern Conference (SEC) teams throughout the 2024 football season. However, the University of Georgia has chosen not to participate in this particular documentary. Other SEC schools, including Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma, have also opted out. Consequently, the series will primarily focus on teams such as Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt.
While Georgia fans may be disappointed by the absence of their team in the upcoming Netflix series, they can still enjoy “Them Dawgs” for an in-depth look at the Bulldogs’ 2022 championship season. Additionally, the upcoming Netflix docuseries will offer a unique perspective on other SEC programs, providing a broader view of college football dynamics within the conference.
