As if Notre Dame fans didn’t already have enough reasons to dislike USC.
The Trojans have officially hired Chad Bowden, who was previously the general manager of the Fighting Irish football program.
Yes, the award-winning Chad Bowden.
Notre Dame kept Michigan at bay while the Wolverines pursued Bowden’s services, but the Trojans swooped in with a reputed multiyear offer of more than $1 million per year.
Bowden was estimated to make around $300,000 per year at Notre Dame.
Bowden, the son of former MLB executive Jim Bowden, was promoted from recruiting director to associate athletic director for player personnel before the season began.
He arrived at Notre Dame from Cincinnati in January 2021, along with current Irish head coach Marcus Freeman, to serve as the defense recruiting coordinator.
If it appears that Notre Dame is losing a lot of critical elements of its squad as defensive coordinator Al Golden and key players like Pat Coogan leave, it’s important to remember that the Irish made a lot of money with their deep playoff run and have some fascinating transfers coming in.
Nonetheless, this one could cause substantial pain.
