LSU football is  lose a quarterback to the transfer portal

LSU redshirt freshman quarterback Rickie Collins intends on entering the transfer portal, a source confirmed with The Advocate.

Collins was a four-star recruit and the No. 18 quarterback in the nation in the Class of 2023, according to the 247Sports Composite. He was LSU’s third-string quarterback last season before splitting time as the team’s primary backup this season with Vanderbilt transfer AJ Swann.

But after Nussmeier injured his throwing shoulder during the first half of Saturday’s game against Oklahoma, it was Swann — not Collins — who entered the game for the injured Nussmeier before he eventually returned.

Swann was also coach Brian Kelly’s first choice off the bench after Nussmeier briefly exited the game at Florida.

Collins concludes his LSU career having completed all seven of his pass attempts for 38 yards. He also had 37 yards rushing.
