So Sad: Brent Pry Announced a Devastating News…

The 2024 Virginia Tech football team is seeing their season spiral quickly out of control. After a 24-14 loss at home against Clemson on Saturday afternoon, the Hokies sit at a disappointing 5-5 entering their second bye week of the season. Against the Tigers, the Hokies held a 7-0 halftime lead, but it was about how they got that lead more than anything.

Clemson led in total plays in the opening 30 minutes, yardage, and just about every category, but they still found themselves down a touchdown.

That was because Virginia Tech blocked a field goal attempt when Keyshawn Burgos busted through and made the block before Quentin Reddish returned 77 yards for a touchdown. Other than that, it was a bad performance by the offense and the Tigers continued to hurt themselves with mistakes.

As usual, close games at halftime are generally decided by halftime adjustments and if there is one area that Virginia Tech’s coaching staff has struggled this season with, it’s not just halftime adjustments, but adjustments in general. That was the case again on Saturday.

Brent Pry on lack of halftime adjustments vs. Clemson
Following the loss to Clemson, Pry had a quote that is going to make it hard to defend the coaching staff with the way this season has gone. Here is what the Hokies’ third-year coach said about the lack of adjustments made by him and his staff.

It feels like we have heard that line before. Whether it’s been clock management, play-calling, coaching decisions in general, or lack of adjustments, this hasn’t been a good year for the staff and that showed once again against Clemson.

Going against Dabo Swinney, you would have to think that the Hokies staff knew that he was going to make adjustments along with his staff, no?

There have been several reasons for the Hokies’ downward spiral this season and the lack of adjustments is one of the reasons.

Hopefully, over the next two weeks, it will be something they look at along with other things. It’s hard to defend the coaches with the same mistakes happening on a weekly basis.
