“I’m retiring. I have so much clarity about this decision…
Today, I am announcing my retirement from professional baseball. This decision comes with so much clarity, and while it’s a bittersweet moment, I know it’s the right step for me.
Playing for the St. Louis Cardinals has been one of the greatest honors of my life. From the first day I donned the Cardinal red, I felt an immense sense of pride and responsibility. This organization has a rich history and a passionate fan base, and I have cherished every opportunity to contribute to that legacy. The memories I’ve created with my teammates and coaches will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Throughout my career, I have experienced the highs and lows that come with the game. I’ve celebrated incredible victories, faced tough losses, and learned valuable lessons along the way. Each moment has shaped me, not only as a player but as a person. The camaraderie, the thrill of competition, and the support from fans have all played vital roles in my journey.
As I step away from the field, I do so with profound gratitude. I’ve had the privilege of playing alongside some of the most talented athletes in the sport, and I’m thankful for the friendships and bonds we’ve built. Together, we’ve shared countless memories—on and off the field—that I will carry with me forever.
This decision has not come lightly. After years of dedication, I have reached a point where I feel ready to embrace a new chapter in my life. It’s a realization that my passions are evolving, and I want to pursue opportunities that align with my interests outside of baseball. I’ve gained clarity about what truly matters to me, and I am excited to explore these new paths.
Retirement does not mean I am leaving the sport behind. I plan to remain involved in baseball, whether through coaching, mentoring young players, or participating in community initiatives. I believe in giving back to the game that has given me so much, and I hope to inspire the next generation of athletes.
To my teammates, coaches, and the entire Cardinals organization, thank you for your unwavering support and belief in me. You have been instrumental in my growth, both on and off the field. I am grateful for the lessons learned and the challenges overcome together.
To the incredible fans of the St. Louis Cardinals—thank you for your passion and dedication. Your support has meant the world to me, and I hope to continue to make you proud in whatever endeavors I pursue next. I will always cherish the moments we’ve shared at Busch Stadium, and I look forward to cheering for the team as a lifelong fan.
As I embark on this new journey, I do so with a heart full of gratitude and excitement. While I will miss the thrill of the game, I am ready to embrace the unknown and explore what lies ahead. This is not just an ending; it is a beginning, and I am eager to see where it takes me.
