Averaged a team-high 25.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists while leading Cavaliers to an NBA-best 10-1 record in February; Earns award for third time in his NBA career and second time as a Cavalier

CLEVELAND – The NBA announced today that Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell has been named the Kia NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month for games played in February 2025. This marks Mitchell’s third time winning the award (December 2021 and January 2024) and second time as a member of the Cavaliers.

This past month, Mitchell (6-3, 215) led the Cavaliers to an NBA-best 10-1 record and averaged a team-high 25.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists in 30.5 minutes. He was one of only four players in the East to average at least 25.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists. Among Eastern Conference leaders, Mitchell ranked third in plus/minus (+127), sixth in points per game (25.8), 10th in total three-pointers made (32) and 14th in assists per game (5.3). He also scored at least 20 points eight of his 10 appearances, including four games of 30 points or more and a season-high 41 points during Cleveland’s come-from-behind win at Boston on Feb. 28 when they rallied back from a 22-point deficit.

Additional highlights during the month include Mitchell shooting a season-best .714 (10-14 FG) from the field in a win over Minnesota on Feb. 10. During Cleveland’s victory over New York on Feb. 21, he made nine of his first 11 field goal attempts en route to a 24-point opening half. Mitchell, who connected on at least two three-pointers in all but one game during February, became the seventh player in team history to make 600 three-pointers with his first triple in a 30-point, 10-rebound, six-assist performance versus Boston on Feb. 4, and passed Cedi Osman (628 3FG) for the sixth-most three-pointers made ever by a Cavaliers in the victory over the Celtics on Feb. 28.

An NBA All-Star for the sixth consecutive season, Mitchell is currently averaging a team-high 24.3 points (15th-best in NBA), a .395 clip from three-point range, 4.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.34 steals (24th in NBA) in 31.2 minutes over 56 games (all starts). With 202 three-pointers made this season (sixth-most in NBA) and a franchise-record 245 triples in 2022-23, Mitchell is the first Cavaliers player ever to record multiple seasons with at least 200 three-pointers made. The eighth-year guard has helped lead the Cavaliers to a league-best 50-10 record on the season, the best 60-game start in franchise history and tied for the 10th-best start in NBA history.
