Netflix has announced an exclusive documentary titled “Return to Glory: Nebraska Football,” set to premiere in early 2025. This series will chronicle head coach Matt Rhule’s transformative journey as he revitalizes the Nebraska Cornhuskers football program. Viewers can expect an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at Rhule’s inaugural season in Lincoln, highlighting the challenges, triumphs, and culture-building efforts that have reignited this storied program.
This upcoming release adds to the growing list of documentaries celebrating Nebraska’s rich football history. Notably, the “Day by Day” series, directed by Justin Le Pera, delves into the Cornhuskers’ dominant run in the 1990s under Coach Tom Osborne. The series is divided into two parts: “Day by Day: The Rise” and “Day by Day: The Dynasty.” The former focuses on Osborne’s early years and the team’s ascent, while the latter examines the pinnacle of their success, including multiple national championships.
The “Day by Day” series features interviews with notable figures such as Peyton and Archie Manning, Larry the Cable Guy, and numerous NCAA and NFL legends, providing a comprehensive look at one of the most celebrated and controversial football teams in history.
With “Return to Glory: Nebraska Football,” Netflix aims to capture the current resurgence of the Cornhuskers under Coach Rhule, offering fans and viewers an intimate look at the program’s efforts to return to national prominence. This documentary promises to be a compelling addition to the legacy of Nebraska football storytelling.
