The University of Southern California (USC) Trojans will be taking a step back in time this weekend as they gear up to face off against

the Nebraska Cornhuskers in their Homecoming game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. For this special occasion, the Trojans

will be donning their iconic 1972 throwback uniforms, paying homage to a bygone era in the program’s rich history.

The 1972 USC team, led by legendary quarterback Pat Haden, is widely regarded as one of the greatest teams in school history. That

season, the Trojans finished with an impressive 12-0 record and won the national championship, capping off an undefeated campaign

with a 42-17 victory over Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.

The throwback uniforms will feature the same classic design elements that made the 1972 team so iconic, including the iconic “SC”

logo on the helmet, the traditional gold and cardinal colors, and the distinctive numbering system that was popular during that era.

“It’s a great honor for us to be able to wear these throwback uniforms,” said USC head coach Clay Helton. “The 1972 team was an

incredible group of players and coaches who set a high standard for excellence on and off the field. We’re excited to pay tribute to their

legacy and show our appreciation for their contributions to Trojan football.”

The Trojans are currently riding a three-game winning streak and are looking to continue their momentum against the Cornhuskers.

With their throwback uniforms and a strong sense of history on their side, USC is confident that they’ll be able to make a statement in

front of their home crowd at the Coliseum.

“We’re looking forward to wearing these uniforms and giving our fans a taste of what it was like to be a part of that special team in

1972,” said USC quarterback Kedon Slovis. “We know it’s going to be a great game, and we’re excited to see what we can do.”

Kickoff for the Homecoming game between USC and Nebraska is set for 5:00 PM PST on Saturday, October 31st.
