Michigan football projected win total for 2025 season released

FanDuel has released its win total projections for the 2025 Michigan football season.

After three consecutive seasons with at least 12 wins, Michigan football took a step back to eight last season. However, the Wolverines won three in a row and knocked off second-ranked Ohio State as well as 11th-ranked Alabama to close out the campaign.

Michigan has also won consecutive bowl games since rival fans used to joke about that being an issue. The Wolverines have won four consecutive postseason games, a streak they can hopefully continue in 2025 as part of the College Football Playoff.

With Bryce Underwood and Mikey Keene added at quarterback, plus North Carolina offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, Michigan should be better on offense. The offensive line needs to improve and there is still hope for wide receiver, especially if Donaven McCulley can have a breakout season like he did for Indiana in 2023.

At any rate, according to FanDuel, the win projection total for Michigan football is currently 8.5. Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, and Notre Dame have the highest win projections at 10.5. Of course, these are so people can place bets on them and as a Michigan football fan, I’d have a hard time not betting the over on that 8.5 win total.

Michigan football will exceed projected win total

The schedule is much more manageable next season. Last year, the Wolverines had to play Texas, Oregon, Ohio State, and Illinois — four teams that won 10 games or more last season.

This year’s schedule isn’t easy. There are six road games including trips to Oklahoma, Nebraska, Michigan State, Nebraska, and USC. Ohio State and Wisconsin are the most difficult home games.

The Wolverines will have a good chance of winning their home games, with Ohio State as the big question mark. The road games are winnable too. Even assuming a loss to Ohio State, the Wolverines would just need to win four of the six on the road for a nine-win season or if they win out at home, they just need to splt on the road and a 9-3 season with a win over Ohio State might be enough to get Michigan football back into the College Football Playoff.

Either way, 9-3 feels more likely than 8-4.
