Breaking News: 4-star QB Bowe Bentley Flips Commitment to Florida State Over Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas Tech

Florida State offers 4-star QB Bowe Bentley after losing commitment from Brady Smigiel

Florida State is once again looking for a quarterback to add to its 2026 recruiting class after losing a commitment from Newbury Park (Calif.) four-star Brady Smigiel on Sunday afternoon.

Head coach Mike Norvell and new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn are moving quick. Just minutes after Smigiel announced his decommitment, Celina (Texas) four-star QB Bowe Bentley announced an offer from the Seminoles.

Bentley’s recruitment has taken off following a big junior season and an impressive showing at the Navy All-American Bowl earlier this month. Since then, he’s picked up offers from the likes of Wisconsin, Kansas State, UCF, Oklahoma, Missouri and now FSU.

“Bowe Bentley had another good day at the Navy All-American Bowl,” On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote of Bentley after the second practice in San Antonio. “He continued to look like the top quarterback on the East team in the morning practice, making quick decisions and throwing with velocity. Bentley was a little more up and down during the joint practice, but still made some nice plays.”

Captaining the Texas 4A-Division I state champion Celina Bobcats to a 17-0 season in 2024, Bentley threw for 3,330 yards and 47 touchdowns and also rushed for 933 yards and 16 more scores.

He is the No. 403 overall prospect and No. 26 QB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 51 player in Texas.
