Graham Potter secured his first Premier League victory as West Ham United’s manager with a thrilling 3-2 win over Fulham at the London Stadium on January 14, 2025.

 

Despite Fulham’s early dominance, including a near-miss when Harry Wilson’s volley struck the crossbar, West Ham capitalized on defensive errors to take the lead. In the 31st minute, Carlos Soler intercepted a misplaced pass from Andreas Pereira and scored his inaugural Premier League goal. Just over two minutes later, Tomas Soucek doubled the advantage, finishing a well-executed move initiated by Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s assist.

 

Fulham responded in the second half, with Alex Iwobi’s cross finding the net in the 51st minute, narrowing the deficit. However, a critical mistake by goalkeeper Bernd Leno, pressured by substitute Danny Ings, allowed Lucas Paquetá to restore West Ham’s two-goal cushion in the 67th minute. Iwobi struck again in the 78th minute with a similar cross that evaded both attackers and defenders, bringing Fulham back within a goal. Despite their efforts, including a missed opportunity by Adama Traoré in stoppage time, Fulham couldn’t find an equalizer.

 

This victory ended West Ham’s three-game losing streak across all competitions and elevated them to 12th place in the Premier League standings with 26 points.
