Breaking News: 5-Star WR commits to Wolverines for 2025

Michigan football recruiting: WR Jaylen Pile commits to Wolverines for 2026

Michigan football has struggled to get its passing game going so far this season, and it appears it’s doing all it can to prevent that from happening again in the future.

Coach Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines earned a commitment Thursday from three-star class of 2026 wideout Jaylen Pile, one day after reports surfaced the Wolverines are pursuing former Indiana WR Donaven McCulley in the transfer portal.

Pile’s father, Willie Pile, played for Virginia Tech and played for the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL.

Pile, a 6-foot, 175-pound product out of Dallas, Texas (Parish Episcopal School) is rated the No. 66 player in the state, No. 78 wide out in the country and No. 492 player in the class according to 247Sports composite rankings. The junior caught 16 passes for 427 yards and five scores last year according to his recruiting profile.

Pile has more than 20 Division I offers including from Auburn, Florida State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Wisconsin and Oklahoma.

Pile is now the third verbal commit in U-M’s 2026 class, joining quarterback Brady Hart (Cocoa Beach, Fla) and cornerback Brody Jennings (Jacksonville).
