Miami grabs much-needed four-star LSU WR in transfer portal
The Miami Hurricanes secured their second transfer portal commitment of the 2025 cycle on Wednesday, addressing a significant need at wide receiver.
After adding Jacksonville State safety Zechariah Poyser, one of the top safeties in the portal, Miami has landed LSU wide receiver CJ Daniels, according to Hayes Fawcett at On3. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Daniels chose the Hurricanes over SEC programs Auburn, Georgia, and Ole Miss, as well as ACC rival Georgia Tech.
Daniels, who also spent time four years at Liberty, brings a proven track record to Miami’s offense. Over his collegiate career, he has totaled 148 receptions, 2,434 yards, and 23 touchdowns. With one year of eligibility remaining, Daniels is expected to make an immediate impact.
The Hurricanes are in need of reinforcements at wide receiver after losing several key contributors. Miami’s leading receiver, Xavier Restrepo, along with Jacolby George and tight end Elijah Arroyo, are all set to depart. Additionally, sophomore wideout Isaiah Horton recently entered the transfer portal, leaving a significant void in the receiving corps.
Daniels’ commitment to Miami comes after the Hurricanes were heavily involved in his recruitment last year before he chose LSU. According to CaneSport, Daniels watched potential starting quarterback Emory Williams practice during his recent visit and felt confident about his decision.
This marks another key addition for head coach Mario Cristobal, who continues to leverage the transfer portal to address roster needs. With Daniels on board, Miami takes a major step toward reloading its offense for the upcoming season.
