No. 1 cornerback in America commits to the Tennessee

Four-star cornerback Onis Konanbanny commits to Tennessee

Yet another one.

Tennessee’s white hot run on the recruiting trail has continued this afternoon. The Volunteers added another cornerback to the class, picking up a commitment from four-star cornerback Onis Konanbanny.

The South Carolina product is a member of the class of 2025. Konanbanny is the 302nd ranked player in the cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s the fourth-ranked player in the state and the 28th ranked cornerback in the class.

Konanbanny stands in at 6-1, 180 pounds — exactly what Tennessee looks for in a cornerback. He has a unique background and is still very new to the game, coming over from England back in 2022. Konanbanny played soccer for much of his life, but has since swapped to the football side.

Konanbanny chose Tennessee over offers from Florida State, LSU, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State and several other top schools. Though he may be raw as a prospect, the athletic upside is apparent by the offer list.

Tennessee now has 24 commitments in their 2025 class. Konanbanny joins recent commits five-star tackle David Sanders, four-star safety Logonza Hayward, four-star tight end Da’Saahn Brame and four-star linebacker Jaedon Harmon. All of that on top of landing No. 1 overall player Faizon Brandon in the class of 2026.

The Volunteers now have four cornerbacks in the 2025 class — Konanbanny, Tre Poteat, Tyler Redmond and Dylan Lewis.
