Ohio State Signs Top In-State OL, Carter Lowe

Carter Lowe picked Ohio State over a number of other bluebloods and can be an early contributor on the offensive line.

During the Jim Tressel era, Ohio State’s recruiting in Ohio and on the offensive line was incredible. Urban Meyer kept up the trend on the offensive line. However, went national and still has former players in the NFL. Unfortunately, in the Ryan Day era, it has not been quite as dominant aside from Paris Johnson, Jr.. In the end, Day was able to fend off top programs for the services of Toledo native, Carter Lowe.

Depth and injuries were under the microscope for Ohio State’s Joe Moore Award Semifinalist group in 2024. Now, the Buckeyes will add the highest-rated offensive linemen from Ohio. Lowe could compete for early playing time with several departures after this year.

247Sports lists Lowe as six-foot-five and 290 pounds. Ultimately, he already has plenty of size to compete on the Ohio State offensive line. He’s impressively athletic for his size and has the strength to move mountains. If need be (as the Buckeyes have done in the past), Lowe could be kicked inside to guard. One of the calling cards of the Day era is the idea that they put “the five best” on the line. If Lowe is one of the best in camp, they are comfortable putting him at guard.

Lowe has great physicality at the point of attack and is a strong puller with the ability to climb to the next level. Meanwhile, in pass protection, he is a wall but on the off chance he gets beat, he can recover and win the rep. however, he can get a little top-heavy, but his footwork shows he can recover and develop.

Lowe also ran track and field and played basketball for Whitmer.
