Why Bills Should Sign Daniel Jones as Josh Allen Backup QB
New York recently released the former sixth overall pick and Buffalo should bring him in as better reinforcements behind Josh Allen.
Josh Allen is the face of the Buffalo Bills. So long as he is the quarterback, Buffalo will be a championship contender. That much is clear.
It wouldn’t hurt to address the backup quarterback position, though.
With Daniel Jones’ surprising release from the New York Giants Friday afternoon, the Bills have seen a competent quarterback hit the open market for any team to sign…after he clears waivers.
Jones being a strong locker room leader helps teams looking to address their quarterback room as well.
“Daniel has been a great representative of our organization, first class in every way,” Giants owner John Mara said in a statement. “His handling of this situation yesterday exemplifies just that. We are all disappointed in how things have worked out.”
Buffalo’s current top backup to Allen is Mitchell Trubisky. Trubisky has never won a playoff game in his career and has struggled consistently in recent years.
Jones, in that regard, is a significant upgrade over the current quarterback room with the Bills. The former sixth-overall pick does have a scrambling ability to him that makes him an interesting player to look over.
