Soldo posted a statement on Instagram on Wednesday morning, describing his frustration with the “ridiculous narrative”.
“Let’s just clear some things up, the only reason I didn’t attend the PAFC best and fairest was because it was on the same night as my best friend’s wedding, that I was the best man for,” he posted.
Soldo confirmed he was still contracted with Port and had “no intentions of leaving”.
Former Port premiership player and footy commentator Kane Cornes was publicly critical of Soldo’s absence from the event, and described the ruckman as “one of the more disappointing recruits Port Adelaide has ever had”.
“The Saints have dodged a bullet here,” Cornes said on Nine’s Footy Furnace.
