Sha’Carri Richardson will race in the women’s 100m and 200m at her third Diamond League Final, attempting the sprint double to end the season on a high.

World champion Richardson has had a productive and dominant season which culminated with running the second-fastest time ever in the 100m at the US Track and Field trials.

The American was unbeaten over the 100m going into Paris 2024 and was disappointed at missing out on the 100m dash gold won by Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred.

Despite winning the Olympic 4x100m relay title, the 24-year-old went back to the drawing board with a strong finish in mind, and coming back next year ready to defend her world title.

Richardson will bring her season to a close in Brussels, first lining up for the women’s 100m on Friday (13 September) that will also feature the reigning Olympic champion Alfred, whom she defeated at their first post Paris race in Zurich last month.

Paris Olympians including the British duo of 2019 world champion Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita, plus Cote d’Ivoire’s Marie-Jose Ta Lou-Smith, are also listed to compete in the shortest track event at the Memorial Van Damme meeting.

A day later, Richardson will return for the 200m Diamond League race, when she will again face Neita, Ta Lou-Smith, and American Olympic bronze medallist Brittany Brown.
