Boston Bruins Sign Goaltender to Professional Tryout

On the first day of on-ice training camp, The Boston Bruins announced the signing of goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo to a Professional Tryout Agreement. Kaskisuo signed with the Laval Rocket late last season and posted a 7-4 record with a .909 save percentage and a 2.90 goals-against average in 13 appearances. The 30-year-old netminder has played in two career NHL games and 108 career AHL games. The Vantaa, Finland native has a 53-36-13 record with a 2.68 goals against average and a .909 save percentage with the Toronto Marlies, Chicago Wolves, and Laval Rocket.

 

from 2021-23 and originally signed with the Nashville Predators after two years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and posted a 1.92 goals against average in his second season. Kaskisuo made the American Hockey League All-Star team during the 2019-20 season.

With Bruins All-Star goaltender Jeremy Swayman still unsigned for the foreseeable future, Kaskisuo brings professional experience and can fill in as a potential backup to Joonas Korpisalo in the NHL, or play AHL games if Brandon Bussi or Michael DiPietro can fill in for Swayman. Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney spoke to the media Wednesday and said that the team hoped to sign Swayman by the December 1 deadline.
