Final look at Mississippi State’s football transfer portal tracker
Mississippi State is nearing the midway point of the offseason and training camp is just a few weeks away. That also means that the Bulldogs have concluded the transfer portal season and enter the month of July with 85 scholarship players on the 2024 roster.
Mississippi State filled that last spot on the 85-man roster last month with the addition of former juco defensive lineman Corey Clark. All in all, since the conclusion of the 2023 season the Bulldogs have had 26 scholarship players transfer out of the program while welcoming 17 new transfers to the roster.
Head coach Jeff Lebby and his staff did most of their transfer work on the offensive side of the ball, and the offense stands to have 11 new starters this fall. The Bulldogs signed 11 transfers on offense this offseason and that featured four offensive linemen – Makylan Pounders, Ethan Miner, Jacoby Jackson and Marlon Martinez.
At the skill positions, that group is headlined by quarterback Blake Shapen along with receivers Kelly Akharaiyi, Kevin Coleman and Trent Hudson. Mississippi State also filled a big need with the addition of transfer running back Davon Booth and a pair of tight ends, who are brothers, in Justin Ball and Cam Ball. Except for Booth and Hudson, the rest of the offensive transfers participated in spring practice.
Defensive-wise, Mississippi State brought in six transfers and more than half of that group participated in spring practice. That included defensive linemen Kedrick Bingley-Jones and Sulaiman Kpaka along with linebacker Stone Blanton and cornerback Tre Wright.
In the spring portal window, Mississippi State added defensive back DeAgo Brumfield from Memphis and former West Virginia cornerback Montre Miller, who was State’s last transfer addition this offseason.
