Former wide receiver Antonio Brown says he is retiring from the NFL and you might be surprised to find out he says he’s retiring as a Las Vegas Raider.
Brown took to social media on Wednesday morning to make his announcement, and in it he says, “I am officially retiring today a Raider.”
This is obviously hilarious because Brown, who announced his decision through his media company (if you want to call it that), never played a single snap for the Raiders in what was one of the most disastrous situations in franchise history.
After signing with the Raiders in 2019, Brown had a slew of issues with the team, from helmet grievances to on-field arguments with then-general manager Mike Mayock, which ultimately led to his release in September of that year.
Brown is most well-known for his stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he became one of the best players at his position, and one of the best of his generation.
The former sixth-round pick’s wild career ended fittingly in 2021 after he left the field shirtless while waiving to fans as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his team’s Week 17 win over the New York Jets.
Prior to his stint with the Buccaneers, Brown spent one season with the New England Patriots. Retiring with literally any of the three aforementioned teams would’ve made more sense, but after all, this is Antonio Brown we’re talking about.
