IT’s OFFICIAL: Washington Commanders announces the signing of a new kicker

Commanders sign K Austin Seibert

The Washington Commanders signed kicker Austin Seibert to a contract on Tuesday. The move comes one day after fellow kicker Cade York was released. York missed two field

goals and saw a kickoff sail out of bounds during Washington’s 37-20 loss at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. York’s release came three weeks after the Commanders traded a conditional seventh-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for the second-year kicker. “I think it just really goes to show we have really high standards,” Commanders coach Dan Quinn said at his Monday press conference. Seibert, 27, has made 45 of 56 field-goal attempts in 31 career games with the Browns (2019-20), Cincinnati Bengals (2020), Detroit Lions (2021-22) and New York Jets (2023).

Also on Tuesday, Washington signed rookie offensive tackle Anim Dankwah to its practice squad. The Commanders host the New York Giants (0-1) on Sunday.
