The Green Bay Packers have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver to their practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, the Packers released former Steelers running back La’Mical Perine.
Luther signed with the Steelers on August 15, just days before their second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills. In two preseason games, he did little to make his mark, playing just 17 snaps over those games. A returner and wide receiver, the Steelers gave Luther looks at both positions.
He came into the NFL out of Gardner-Webb in the 2023 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent. Over the last year, Luther has spent time with the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Steelers, and now, the Packers.
The 5-foot-11 wide receiver has yet to play in an NFL game. A 2022 First-Team All-Big South selection, Luther totaled 1035 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in his final season with Gardner-Webb.
He ran a 4.5 40-yard dash at his pro day to get himself on the team’s radars after his big, breakout season with the Runnin’ Bulldogs.
