‘We need him’ — Rooster’s Origin spot looks certain; Warriors just ‘cannon fodder’: What we learned
The Roosters have stunned the Warriors, scoring 22 points inside 14 minutes in a ruthless attacking display at Allianz Stadium.
Trent Robinson’s side went on to secure a 38-18 win, meaning Andrew Webster’s New Zealand side have now been unable to win in their last five games.
The clash also marked Jared Waerea-Hargreaves’ 300th game as a Rooster, becoming the fourth player to achieve the milestone for the famous club.
The first four-pointer came through Dominic Young, with Joey Many bamboozling defenders to give his winger a clear lane to streak down the sideline.
The next try came from Angus Crichton, finishing off a pair of huge runs from Young to get the Roosters down the other end of the field.
Young was once again in the action three minutes later, scoring his second try of the night thanks to a lobbed Sam Walker pass.
Then it was Crichton, who responded to Young’s four-pointer with another try of his own, grounding a Luke Keary grubber.
The Warriors managed to stem the flow of points and held the Roosters scoreless for the remainder of the half, before Daniel Tupou broke the drought in the 44th minute.
He was gifted a try from a ridiculous Sam Walker effort, kicking across the field after breaking away from his own tryline.
