Stephen Curry will turn 37 this coming season, his 16th year in the NBA. It comes as no surprise that the Golden State Warriors superstar is already thinking about life after the NBA.
In a recent revelation, the former back-to-back MVP announced that he has some major plans in the NBA once he calls time on his decorated career. Speaking to CNBC’s Jessica Golden, Curry said he is interested in becoming an NBA team owner someday.
“For me, that’s definitely on the table,” said Curry. “I think I could do a pretty good job of helping sustain how great the NBA is right now and what it takes to run a championship organization.”
Curry has already laid out the foundation of his post-NBA ventures. He spearheaded the launch of Year 3 of his Underrated Golf Tour on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The four-time NBA champion also owns Unanimous Media, which is a multimedia company that Curry founded with partner Erick Payton back in 2018.
Clearly, Steph is determined to further expand his portfolio, and he has now confirmed that team ownership in the NBA could be in his future.
Curry is one of the highest-paid athletes in the world and recently signed a one-year extension worth $62.2 million that keeps him under contract through the 2026-27 season. According to Spotrac, his career earnings are $354.7 million.
Curry’s pockets are deep enough to purchase a significant stake in an NBA team, and organizations across the league would likely be more than willing to incorporate the greatest shooter of all time into their ownership group.
