Alabama Football: Latest departures and recruiting news
Kadyn Proctor enters the transfer portal
The transfer portal exodus continues for the Alabama Football team as starting left tackle Kadyn Proctor has entered the transfer portal. Proctor was the top offensive tackle recruit in the 2023 recruiting class and the fifth-ranked prospect overall. The freshman started every game this season for the Alabama Football team at left tackle.
While Proctor had his struggles this season sharing time at tackle with Elijah Pritchett, he did develop as the year progressed with Left Tackle being one of the hardest positions for a true freshman to play. Losing a true freshman who earned valuable reps certainly hurts but, after allowing 48 sacks in 2023 the offensive line was certainly going to undergo changes. According to Pro Football Focus Kadyn Proctor was responsible for 32.8% of the pressures on Jalen Milroe.
The replacement for Kadyn Proctor will most likely be either Elijah Pritchett or Miles McVay with the other player likely slotting in at right tackle. Incoming transfer Naquil Betrand from Texas A&M will also compete for a starting role if he decides to stay. Pritchett has the most experience of the trio splitting snaps with Proctor at left tackle for parts of the season.
The offensive line will have a few holes to fill with the departures of Proctor at Left Tackle, JC Latham at right tackle, and Seth McLaughlin at center. The transfers of Proctor, McLaughlin, and Terrence Ferguson have certainly made a position that seemed pretty set a need for the Alabama Football team.
2025 Edge Rusher Zion Grady de-commits
The Alabama Football 2025 recruiting class saw its third player revoke their commitment as four-star edge rusher Zion Grady de-committed. Grady committed to Alabama Football after the Crimson Tide’s November win over the Kentucky Wildcats. Grady cited a lack of communication for his decision saying the following:
Hopefully, Kalen DeBoer and Courtney Morgan can reach out to Grady and get him back on board with the Alabama Football program as the talented Alabama native is an important part of the 2025 recruiting class.
Jabbar Muhammad plans a visit to Tuscaloosa
There’s finally some good news as Washington transfer cornerback Jabbar Muhammad plans to visit Tuscaloosa this week according to On3. Muhammad is one of the top cornerbacks in the transfer portal and would be a massive add for Kalen DeBoer. Muhammad totaled 41 tackles, three interceptions, and 14 pass defenses for the Huskies. Muhammad is visiting both the Alabama Football program and the Texas Longhorns. Muhammad would be a massive get for the Alabama Football program and would be a plug-and-play cornerback opposite transfer Domani Jackson.
