TOHU HARRIS RULED OUT FOR REMAINDER OF 2024 NRL SEASON
Coming off their Round 19 bye, the One NZ Warriors will be forced to make their final push for an NRL post-season berth without inspirational captain Tohu Harris.
Harris recently underwent surgery for a chronic wrist injury and has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024 season.
The 32-year-old has been troubled by the wrist injury throughout their campaign, taking a four-week break after the first ten games of the season to treat the injury.
He has since been in and out of the squad as the Warriors continue to manage the situation.
Most recently, Harris was named for their Round 18 matchup with the Bulldogs but was subbed out for Dylan Walker ahead of kick-off.
“He’s our captain and one of our most experienced players, but I think it was just the right decision at the time that we couldn’t keep going anymore – it was unfair on him,” Warriors head coach Andrew Webster told media on Tuesday.
“His future is fine – he’ll be back doing the pre-season, ready to go. If anything, that sets his future up.”
Walker is the likely candidate to replace Harris at the back of the Warriors pack, when they face the Raiders in Canberra on Friday.
During Harris’ recent absence, Mitchell Barnett took on the role of stand-in captain.
