Bruce Springsteen announces surprise tour news after postponing all 2023 dates
Bruce Springsteen won’t let his health woes stop the plans for his mammoth stadium tour.
Despite postponing all of his remaining 2023 dates due to his peptic ulcer, The Boss has just announced he’ll be back on the road in Europe in 2024.
Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band said in a statement via social media: “Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band delivered “the greatest show on earth” (Billboard) across Europe this past summer, and they’ll make a triumphant return to the continent in 2024 with a just-announced 22-show stadium run.”
Yes, those wanting to see Bruce and the gang in the UK and Ireland in 2024 have another chance, with the European leg kicking back up in Cardiff on 5th May, and wrapping up in London on 25th July.
Other tour stops include Sunderland, Belfast, Cork, Dublin, Prague, Marseille, Prague, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Hannover, Helsinki, Stockholm and Bergen. Tickets for the gigs will be released from November 3rd.
The surprise tour news comes after Bruce was forced to postpone all of his upcoming 2023 shows with the E Street Band because of an ongoing illness.
The Boss previously postponed gigs in the US in August and September, as he was being treated for “symptoms of peptic ulcer disease”.
Shows in Canada, as well as US performances in Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, had been called off through an “abundance of caution” while he recovered and continued treatment.
An official statement posted on Bruce’s social media accounts read: “Bruce Springsteen has continued to recover steadily from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment through the rest of the year on doctor’s advice. With this in mind, and out of an abundance of caution, all remaining 2023 tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be postponed until 2024.”
The Born to Run singer added: “Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.”
According to BUPA, peptic ulcers are sores that can develop in the gastrointestinal tract including the stomach. They usually happen when stomach acid damages the lining of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract.
