‘The Kinks’ former keyboardist John Gosling passes away at 75
John Gosling, the ex-keyboard player of ‘The Kinks’, has died at the age of 75. Gosling was a part of The Kinks from 1970 to 1978, contributing to 10 albums and enhancing popular tracks like “Lola” and “Celluloid Heroes.”
The news of his passing was shared in an official statement on the band’s social media page on Friday morning. The statement expressed deep sadness and extended condolences to Gosling’s wife and family.
Ray Davies, the lead singer of the Kinks, offered his respects to his former bandmate, conveying condolences to Gosling’s wife, Theresa, and family. Lead guitarist Dave Davies expressed his sorrow and highlighted Gosling’s musical contributions and friendship. Drummer Mick Avory also paid his respects, emphasizing Gosling’s musical talent and sense of humor, which made him a beloved band member.
Following Gosling’s departure, Gordon Edwards of Pretty Things assumed the keyboard role until 1979 when Ian Gibbons joined the band. In 1994, Gosling became a founding member of Kast Off Kinks, a group that included former Kinks members Mick Avory, John Dalton and Jim Rodford. Gosling remained with the band until retiring in 2008.
