The Kinks, popular 60s pop and rock band, set to reunite next week
Legendary 60s band, ‘The Kinks’ are all set to reunite over 20 years after they split in the 1990s.
The quartet, namely Ray Davies, Dave Davies, Pete Quaife, and Mick Avory, who formed the pop and rock band in 1963, will reunite next week, the lead guitarist revealed in a recent interview, accidentally slipping the information. Rumours of their possible reunion have been running rife since last, but sources said brothers Ray and Dave weren’t keen.
“We spoke about it only last week. We’re going to meet up again this week and see where the journey might take us,” Dave Davies said.
“We’ve had loads of stuff in the can for ages so who knows,” he said, adding: “Stuff we’ve had in demo form or things we didn’t use. There’s quite a few songs we’ve either revamped or done slightly differently so we’ll see.”
In August, the quartet paid tribute to John Gosling, the band’s former keyboard player, who died at the age of 75.
In a statement shared on their official social media pages, they said: “We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of John Gosling. We are sending our condolences to John’s wife and family.”
Lead singer Ray said: “Condolences to his wife Theresa and family. Rest in Peace, dearest John.” His younger brother Dave added: “I’m dismayed and deeply upset by John Gosling’s passing. He has been a friend and important contributor to the Kinks music during his time with us. Deepest sympathies to his wife and family. I will hold deep affection and love for him in my heart always. Great musician and a great man.”
Gosling was part of the band between 1970 and 1978. He was later replaced by Gordon Edwards of Pretty Things.
