GMB’s Susanna Reid sparks backlash as she’s accused of ‘failing to challenge’ Suella Braverman
GMB viewers ‘switch off’ as Susanna Reid faces backlash over Suella Braverman interview. Good Morning Britain fans have slammed Susanna Reid and her co-presenter Richard Madeley as “absolutely useless”, accusing them of failing to properly challenge Suella Braverman’s opinions.
The ex-Home Secretary stirred controversy this morning when she disclosed her vote against the bill to send illegal immigrants to Rwanda, arguing it wasn’t a strong enough deterrent.
Asserting that the legislation didn’t go “far enough”, she was adamant that the “only way” to “take back control” of UK borders was to exit the European Court of Human Rights. A perplexed Susanna queried: “Why have you changed your mind?”

She reminded Suella that during her time as Home Secretary, she had visited Rwanda and seemed supportive of the policy. Suella expressed concerns that interventions from Strasbourg could thwart the flights, preventing some from departing.
The segment sparked a Twitter storm, with viewers venting their frustration at the hosts. One viewer tweeted: “Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid absolutely useless. No challenging any of Braverman’s rhetoric. So much rubbish spouted and they allowed her to rant without challenge #GMB”
Yet, another viewer countered: “[That’s] because the majority of people agree with her.”
Meanwhile, another critic took aim at the ITV presenter for different reasons, commenting: “Susanna had her a** handed to her on a plate.”
“Well done Suella. Your views actually represent the majority of the country. The woke, lefty Reid, didn’t lay a glove on you! ” was one comment from a supporter.
However, someone challenged with: “How do you know what the majority of the country are thinking? Should you not wait until the results of the local and then the general election to give you confirmation as to what the people really think? “.
Some viewers appeared unable to stomach such politically charged content so early in the morning, reports the Express.
A bemused observer responded with: “Suella Braverman is being interviewed on @GMB shortly… That’s my cue to go back to bed…” Another quipped: “@GMB switched on Good Morning Britain this morning, saw Richard Madeley and Suella Braverman. Switched off. See you next week.”
Meanwhile, some accused GMB of showcasing an “absolutely appalling piece of weak journalism” by lacking any challenges to the facts presented. “Have you laid off all your researchers? We were all very poorly served by this,” they ranted in frustration.
