Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne announces 2 ‘farewell’ shows: Here’s what we know
The good news (if you can call it that) is that Ozzy Osbourne is planning two final, farewell shows before he retires from performing live entirely.
The bad news is that, if you live in North America, you’ll need to catch a plane to see them, because they will be in the U.K.
Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife, told Rolling Stone UK earlier this week that the “Crazy Train” singer that they are planning to do two final shows in two final shows in Birmingham, Ozzy’s hometown.
“He won’t tour again but we are planning on doing two more shows to say goodbye as he feels like ‘I have never said goodbye to my fans and I want to say goodbye properly,” she told the news outlet.
“His voice is still absolutely perfect,” she added. “And all the time he has been off he still does his singing lessons so his voice is perfect.”
Osbourne had confirmed his retirement from touring last year, after having a fourth round of spinal surgery to fix damage caused by a fall in 2019.
“The second surgery went drastically wrong and virtually left me crippled. I thought I’d be up and running after the second and third, but with the last one they put a fucking rod in my spine,” he said to Rolling Stone UK at the time. “They found a tumour in one of the vertebrae, so they had to dig all that out too. It’s pretty rough, man, and my balance is all fucked up.”
“If I can’t continue doing shows on a regular basis, I just want to be well enough to do one show where I can say, ‘Hi guys, thanks so much for my life.’ That’s what I’m working towards, and if I drop down dead at the end of it, I’ll die a happy man,” he said at the time.
There are no details yet on where exactly the concerts will take place or when, so keep your eyes peeled for future announcements.
Osbourne was scheduled to perform at Hersheypark back in 2020, but had to cancel the tour due to health issues.
He did pop up in Hershey in 2015, on the Chocolate World ride with his son, Jack.
