Failures From The Beatles’ Self-Managed Era and Lessons for Today’s DIY Musicians
The Beatles as a band influenced music through their multiple achievements, success and innovation. They have broken various boundaries that has inspired multiple artists to follow their footstep. Even though The Beatles are known for their success such as their first album topping the U.K charts for 30 weeks, winning 10 grammies and even being the best selling band in history, but behind all that glory, they had faced hurdles after their manager Brain Epstein passed away on August 27, 1967 from an overdose.
Four days after the passing of Brain Epstein, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr decided to manage themselves. What the band didn’t know is how much Brain Epstein did for them as a personal manager. He was available and there for The Beatles 24/7 and was involved with every major decision that the band made through out their career, as he wanted his artist to only focus on their music. Brain Epstein created a strong relationship with the group by showing respect, taking consideration what the band wanted and shielded The Beatles.
