‘Sons of Anarchy’ Actor Johnny Lewis Not on Drugs During Alleged Attack on Landlady

The death of the 28-year-old, who fell from a second-story terrace, was ruled accidental.

Former Sons of Anarchy actor Johnny Lewis was not on drugs during the incident when he allegedly killed his landlady before falling to his death, according to a coroner’s report.

Lewis died of traumatic injuries after falling from a terrace of the Los Feliz home on Sept. 26.

Authorities believe that Lewis attacked his 81-year-old landlady and then, after struggling with a neighbor, ran up to the roof, where he fell.

The death was determined to be accidental in the report from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. The report states it was unlikely that Lewis jumped to his death and also said there was no evidence of interference from another party.

Lewis, who had a history of drug abuse and recently had undergone treatment in a rehab facility, had been released from L.A. County Jail five days before the incident that led to the attack on Catherine Davis, who was beaten to death.

On Sons of Anarchy, Lewis played Kip “Halfsack” Epps, a prospect hoping to join the California motorcycle club. His character was killed off in the season two finale. Creator Kurt Sutter later said in interviews that the character’s death was not for sensationalism but because Lewis had wanted out of his contract.

He also appeared on nine episodes of The O.C., played parts in the movies The Runaways and Lovely Molly and was a former boyfriend of Katy Perry.
