Wigan Warriors injury update: Matt Peet confirms Ethan Havard blow as long-term absentee returns.
Wigan Warriors coach Matt Peet has confirmed that star forward Ethan Havard will miss the next month of action due to a hamstring injury.

Havard, 22, was struck in the early stages of Wakefield’s 27-26 defeat at Belle Vue in Super League Round 18.

The impressive forward, who earned his first England cap earlier this year against France, has already suffered a dislocated elbow in 2023 during a Challenge Cup sixth-round match against Leeds.

He returned later in June in a win over Salford and has since played against Huddersfield and Mark Applegarth’s Wakefield.

Havard has appeared in 15 Super League games so far this season.
The Warriors do, however, welcome back forwards Kai Pearce-Paul and Kaide Ellis to their 21-man squad for Friday’s televised home game against Warrington.

Ellis’ three-match ban for punching Stefan Ratchford in the Challenge Cup quarter-final at the DW Stadium has been completed.

Meanwhile, Pearce-Paul, a back-rower and England international, has been sidelined with a leg injury since May.

Wigan Warriors’ manager provides the latest injury updates.
“It’ll take about a month,” Peet confirmed on Havard.

“It’s a Grade 2 hamstring.

“He’ll miss a few games, which is unfortunate, and it coincides with us getting Kaide and Kai back.

“You hope to have all of your forwards available for selection at some point, but it’s a stroke of luck that we get two forwards back with Ethan out.”

“They’ve been working very hard.

“Kaide was playing well, and he was disappointed to miss a block.” But it does mean that we get a new version of Kaide, hopefully for the rest of the season.

“Kai is someone who probably missed out on a full preseason due to the World Cup, and he was coming off a few injuries from that and last season.

“I believe we will see an improved version of Kai, both physically and mentally.
