Dallas Stars bring back Oskar Bäck, 2018 third-round pick, on one-year, two-way deal
The 24-year-old Swede played out his rookie contract in Cedar Park and has earned at least another year with the Stars organization.
He’s back. No, Bäck. Both?
Oskar Bäck is back. The Dallas Stars announced Tuesday that they’ve signed the Swedish forward to another year after a productive season in their AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars.
Bäck scored 36 points, seven goals and 29 assists, in 59 regular-season games in Cedar Park, with an additional five points in seven Calder Cup games. Drafted with Dallas’ third-round pick in 2018, Back played several years in Sweden before signing his three-year entry level contract in 2021 and playing three seasons in the AHL. His new two-way contract is worth $775,000, and he will be an unrestricted free agent in 2025, according to PuckPedia.
General manager Jim Nill has been open about using the Stars’ farm system to boost the team’s depth with limited cap space. Logan Stankoven made a splash after earning the call up in February, and Nill recently hinted at reigning AHL MVP Mavrik Bourque earning a permanent spot on the NHL roster.
Bäck, who is 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, was one of several Texas Stars recalled to the NHL roster during Dallas’ playoff run in May, but he did not play a game.
