A West Virginia native has announced his commitment to Steve Sabins’ program. University of South Carolina Upstate transfer Jace Rinehart is returning to his home state to continue his career with WVU baseball.
The North Marion product started all 60 games for the Spartans last season and led the team with a .366 batting average.
It was Rinehart’s best collegiate season as he tallied a team-high 94 hits, including 22 doubles and 17 home runs. He also had 59 RBI and 11 stolen bases.
Rinehart showed his versatility at USC Upstate, he was an outfielder last season after spending his first two years as a catcher.
He is now the fifth player from the transfer portal to join the Mountaineers this offseason.
