I will not play again i want to leave, says San Diego key player

USWNT star Jaedyn Shaw leaves San Diego match with injury – joining Alex Morgan and Naomi Girma on Wave’s medical table

WHAT HAPPENED?

Late into stoppage-time of their 1-1 draw with the Bats Sunday evening, Shaw was at the center of a clash on a corner kick. The 19-year-old attempted to continue, but had to be subbed off with just minutes to spare. She exited the match under her own power, but had a noticeable limp upon her departure.

The USWNT have been hit hard of late with injuries, with Wave duo Naomi Girma and Alex Morgan already on the sidelines and Gotham defender Tierna Davidson also on the medical table.

Sunday saw Shaw join them, along with longtime goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher – who was substituted off the pitch for the Chicago Red Stars on Sunday. Shaw’s status is still up in the air, with boss Casey Stoney confirming there are still unknowns to her situation postgame Sunday.

WHAT CASEY STONEY SAID

“I’ve not had any update from the medical team,” Stoney said postgame. “I’m sure she’s being examined [at the moment]. She came down on her ankle, it looked like. But no update on her as of yet. Hopefully she’s OK. She’s a big, important player for us.”

WHAT NEXT FOR SHAW?

The Wave are back in action against Bay FC Friday evening in a West Coast clash. It’s unknown whether or not Shaw will be a participant.
