4 Star Defensive Lineman Stays Home, Commits To The ‘Dawgs
Kirby Smart and his staff have been red hot on the recruiting trail in June, with multiple commitments rolling in. The staff has gone far and wide to reel in key players. But this week they also struck gold close to home with the commitment of four star Prince Avenue Christian standout Christian Garrett.
The 6’3, 285 pound Garrett is ranked the #19 player in Georgia and the #15 defensive lineman in 247Sports’ composite rankings. To be fair, he’s not the most highly rated target up front on the Bulldogs’ board for this cycle. But Garrett also claimed offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Miami, and USC.
Garrett has solid feet for a guy his size, as well as good hip bend. He also plays with his eyes up, finding the ball and moving laterally to make plays. From what I’ve seen thusfar Garrett likely will need to work on his hand placement and first step, but has the versatility to play every down inside or slide out to a defensive end in bigger run-first packages.
Georgia currently has 13 commitments for the 2025 class, but those include some guys who are still hearing from other programs. The Bulldogs are also staying in touch with a lot of elite players who are uncommitted or committed elsewhere, including on the defensive line. While the Dawgs’ class is currently ranked #8 in the nation, there’s every reason to expect Kirby Smart to extend his streak of national top three recruiting classes. Until later…
