Tracker: Oklahoma State Football Transfer Portal Moves

What moves are the Cowboys making in the transfer portal?

The college football transfer portal is one of the most hectic parts of the calendar year for college football. After the seasons, loads of players — for one reason or another — decide it’s time for them to hit the transfer portal.

With the portal opening on Dec. 3, players have 30 days — until Jan. 1, 2024 — to enter the portal and have immediate eligibility. Players can enter the portal outside of that “window,” but they’ll have to sit out a year.

Sure, players can return to the school they’re transferring from if they so choose, but oftentimes, they entered the portal for a reason.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys were impacted by the portal in a big way last season. They saw 20 outgoing players, bringing in 13 new players and essentially cleaning out the house and re-establishing a culture.

With the way the season went, it was essentially addition by subtraction as the Cowboys were able to string together a solid season after a shaky start.

It’s hard to imagine Mike Gundy and the Cowboys aren’t ready to embrace the rapid changes that come with the transfer portal, and they’ll be active in bringing in players if a situation like last season happens again.
